Gray Ghost Winery Sign

This winery sign is a perfect example of Spring Valleys unique ability to create signs made of HDU that look exactly like wood signs. Grey Ghost Winery previously had a wooden sign that featured the portrait you see here. However, the old sign was faded and rotted and barely legible. The customer came to Spring Valley Signs for help, and this is what we came up with. The gray panel, which displays the winery name and logo and appears to be made of weathered driftwood, is really sculpted from a panel of HDU (High Density Urethane) and mounted onto the main panel. The process involves cutting a panel of the right size, distressing the workable surface to simulate wood grain and knotholes, and painting the panel with gray and black exterior latex paints. The portrait and white text were carved by hand into the wood grain and painted. The main sign panel itself is also made of HDU laminated to a PVC backing for added stability. The letters spelling the word “Winery" are individually carved by hand into the sign face and gilded with genuine 23k gold leaf.
