This design demonstrates one of the key elements of good design: contrast. The dashing, elegant script of the signature contrasts with the geometric forms of Futura, the font used for the word "Photography". The text and borders on this sign are carved by hand and gilded with 23-karat gold leaf. Often, an address number is a necessary feature on a business sign. However, it can sometimes distract from the focus of the sign, or clutter the design. A small oval add-on, as featured on this sign, is an elegant solution to the problem. Now the small address plaque actually completes the design.
