The Nature Conservancy Park & Trail Sign

For the Nature Conservancy, only handcrafted signs would do. We incorporated the Nature Conservancy logo into their park sign. The logo is crafted from a separate piece of HDU (High Density Urethane) and mounted onto the sign face. On the textured area behind the leaves on the logo, we used a technique called chip carving, which is unique to the craft of hand made wooden signage. The main sign looks like a flawless panel of pine wood, but actually its made from HDU. HDU is a weatherproof wood substitute that produces signs which look and feel like wood signs but never rot. For the faux wood effect, our production team used a technique of brushing different colors of latex paint onto the sign face simultaneously.
